Smart Watches and Fitness Tracker
Well, I am here again and today I’m gonna discuss about watches… err….. smart watches. It was in year 1868 when the first wristwatch was invented by Patek Philippe. He must have invented the watch eyeing to use it for timekeeping purposes only but who knew that by the 21st century the world’s market will be flooded by, what the world calls today… Smart Watches. It was in year 1998 that Steve Mann made the first Linux based watch and since then there has been no looking back… only leaps forward. After the evolution of smart phones the world market aims at raising the standards for the smart watches as well. In the recent past a lot of major companies have released their watches. We’ll talk about each of them later on, let’s first see what is the tech behind “the watch“.
The latest watches released, use a number of OS. Some of them are Android Wear, Watch OS, Pebble OS and many more operating systems. A bit surfing thorough the internet was quite enough to figure out that Watch OS ( by Apple Inc.)uses swift language that is a programming language by Apple itself (more about it in next blog). Well, for creating apps on Android Wear, you will need SDK(Software Development Kit) or JDK(Java Development Kit). These watches have very awesome looks due to the astonishing interface they use, especially Apple Watch.
There is a second type also to these ‘Wearable Technologies‘. These types include Activity Trackers. As the name suggests activity trackers are basically for the purpose to track your daily basis activities and tell the user that what’s healthy and what’s not. Activity Trackers are really a useful device as they ensure complete fitness of the user. This technology is highly put into use in sports field. You see, actually players can track their daily needs of nutrients and also keep a check on their stamina. Fitness tracker devices when attached to your pulse (basically when acts as a watch) detects the heart rate and blood circulation rate and converts those data into useful stats into a digital form that is visible to the user. While many devices have both fitness tracker and digital technology but some of those are better isolated as well. Major companies in activity tracker devices are FitBit, Garmin, Misfit etc.
Well, I know that most of you must be thinking of possessing one of the watches. You’ll be happy to know that these watches are really affordable as they come at very low prices and offer high return values. But there are things that you might wanna consider before buying a smart watch. First thing is that, make sure that your device has both the technologies as discussed above. Second, you have to really consider the battery life as well because more the battery life better it is. Apple Watches have a very short battery life of almost one day while Pebble watches can have a battery life of upto 7 days. Third thing is the GUI that the watch works on. Usually, Apple watches have outstanding interface (I know, owning one of them would be awesome and a lot more awesome if you have an iPhone 7) as compared to Pebble that is quite simple and are not really that attractive. Sony and Samsung Gear watches also stand out in performances. I think that you must have inferred that one watch can’t have all the qualities but sure one can have the intermediate of all the qualities. So, you better read my blog once again before you consider buying a watch. Thank you for reading !! Will soon be posting a new blog.
