Bluetooth

Bluetooth

When many of us (including me) select a phone, we consider innumerous features of a phone including the camera, internal memory, RAM and many more things, but one thing is there which we all underestimate (or in some cases we don't care), that my friends, is known as Bluetooth. We always shrug off this particular factor which is still a revolution in

file sharing field. Most of the people think that Bluetooth is now a history, but I am gonna make you believe that Bluetooth is not only the present but the future as well. This blog is about the daily life applications of Bluetooth and not only about its file sharing use.
Bluetooth was initiated in 1989 by Dr. Nils Rydbeck at the Ericsson Mobiles ( Yeah, the one in 'Sony Ericsson'). Fully functional in 1994, Bluetooth was brought to market as a replacement for the RS-232 data cables. From a rare tech to a necessity in devices, Bluetooth is certainly rising. I can frequently see people talking to themselves (for a moment I think they are out of their minds !!) until I realise the presence of a small device in their ears i.e. portable headsets. This is an application of Bluetooth, many such devices are available today in markets for example, portable mouse, keyboard, speakers, automation devices and activity trackers (For example. Health bands).
Most of you must be thinking that why am I even talking about Bluetooth when Wi-Fi exists but let me tell you guys that Bluetooth is in some ways better than Wi-Fi. So, let's talk about Bluetooth v/s Wi-Fi. Bluetooth is a cheaper technology than Wi-Fi also it is more simplistic and consumes lesser power. On the other hand, Wi-Fi provides a wider range and more security but with high complexity. Major issue with Bluetooth is its range, earlier versions such as v3.0 and v4.0 provided smaller range and lesser transfer speed but the v5.0 version has a range of 250m (approx.) and speed of 50mbps.
Bluetooth, in future will serve as an awesome utility when it will be involved in the 'Internet of Things' (explained in my last blog). In present day scenario Wi-Fi is surely a better option but for those with lesser resources, Bluetooth is a precious gift. We can still wait for Bluetooth to get better and better and ultimately one day achieve the best. That was my opinion on Bluetooth, I hope it may enhance your understanding of this beautiful technology.
